Roco 6200154 4 Piece Set IC 511 Chiemgau DB DC

Set of four express train coaches for the IC 511 "Chiemgau" of the Deutsche Bundesbahn.

The set contains a 1st class compartment coach, type Avümz 111 and three 2nd class compartment coaches, type Bm 235.

With the changeover of the Intercity system for the 1979 summer timetable with the slogan "Every hour, every class", a pair of IC trains also started operating on the extended line between Munich and Berchtesgaden. On the section south of Freilassing, the train was shortened to four coaches, with the main coaches from the centre of the train remaining in Freilassing. On the steep section leading to the destination station Berchtesgaden, the Class 144.5 was initially the primary IC locomotive, later followed by the Class 111 and occasionally the Class 194.

The IC 511 "Chiemgau" Cologne - Berchtesgaden is reproduced in its version from 1979 to 1982, as it ran south of Freilassing. It consisted of an air-conditioned 1rst class compartment coach (Avmz 111) and three 2nd class compartment coaches (Bm 235), all of which were equipped with yaw dampers and therefore authorised for 200 km/h due to the high-speed section between Augsburg and Munich.

Between the IC services to and from Cologne, the rolling stock was also used for local trains to and from Freilassing, which sometimes included some goods wagons, providing the opportunity for unusual train formations.

The Avmz 111 included in the set is once again a unique item as a special treat. It was built in 1974 and served as a test coach for a new single-channel air-conditioning system from the Luwa company with electric auxiliary heating in the compartments. Because problems were feared with the power supply when used in DC networks, it was exceptionally designed as a single-voltage coach for 1000 V, 16 2/3 Hz, which is why it also had the unusual coach number 19-94 070 (previously 19-73 070).

The Bm 235s originate from the delivery series 1974 (with black solebar) and 1976 (with ocean blue solebar), each still with old class numbers and smoker/non-smoker lettering.

EDITION FREILASSING

Selected models from the former Freilassing railway depot are reproduced under the "Edition Freilassing" label. In 1905, the first locomotives, still steam locomotives at the time, moved into the locomotive depot with its 20 tracks. Around 20 years later, the electric locomotive workshop was built, followed by further buildings in the years that followed. ROCO also has a close relationship with the Bavarian town of Freilassing, as the first German sales office was located here. Look forward to the models in this unique edition!
