Version with double lamps and rain gutter. Model with integrated load sensing digital decoder and true to the original sound functions from factory. Metal die-cast chassis. Motor with flywheel. Drive on four axles with two traction tyres. Coupler pocket according to NEM 355 standards with close coupler motion link. Interface according to NEM 651 standards for the adaptation of a digital decoder. Triple LED headlights and red illuminated tail end indicators that change over with the direction of travel.
Prototype: With 879 units, the BR E 40/140 is the most frequently built standard electric locomotive of the DB vehicle program. At the beginning of its career it reached a maximum permited speed of 100 km / h and hauled medium freight trains. However, this changed in June 1969 because by then it needed to reach an authorised maximum speed of 110 km / h to make the trains run faster. This way the locomotives could be used more efficiently in the passenger traffic.
